Yugoslav partisans shave the heads of five village women (Silvana Mangano, Jeanne Moreau, Carla Gravina, Barbara Bel Geddes and Vera Miles) believed to have slept with Nazi soldiers. Four, for various reasons, have indeed – and their seducer is a lone, swaggering sergeant whom the partisans briskly emasculate. Shamed out of town, the ladies link up with a band of tough mountain guerrillas. Also with Van Heflin, Richard Basehart, Harry Guardino and Steve Forrest.
