Misbehaving Husbands (1940)

aka’s: Dummy Husbands/Dummy Trouble/At Your Age

The silent-era comedy great, Harry Langdon stars in one of his most celebrated low-budget “talkies.” In this comedy of crossed signals, he portrays a faithful husband who’s marriage is nearly destroyed when rumors surface that he’s cheating on his wife. Also stars Betty Blythe and Esther Muir. Also with Gig Young (as Byron Barr) in his first screen appearance.

On October 19th, 1978, three weeks after marrying German actress Kim Schmidt, Gig Young apparently shot her to death in their New York City apartment and then turned the gun on himself. The direct cause of the murder-suicide remains unclear, as he left no suicide note and his associates could not provide any explanation for his actions. Young was not quite 65, his bride 31. In a further bizarre twist, the police found Young’s Golden Oscar statuette beside the bodies of Young and his wife.
