Blue Lagoon, The (1949)
Two British children, Emmeline (Susan Stranks) and Michael (Peter Jones), are shipwrecked on a Pacific island in the company of old sailor Paddy Button (Noel Purcell), who later dies on a drunken binge. They grow up (as Jean Simmons and Donald Houston) and fall in love, have a baby and try to escape in a home-made boat. They are then picked up. The plot is beefed up by storms, a fight with a giant octopus and two evil traders (James Hayter and Cyril Cusack) who force the boy to dive for pearls before they kill each other off.
