At the request of well-off Eugene Ruvalcaba (Joaquín Cordero), the governess Julia Septién (Marga López) is contracted to become a tutor to the child Silvia (Lucy Buj), daughter of Eugene and his late wife. The girl behaves in a strange way and plays with Hugo, the stone statue of a boy reading a book that adorns the gardens of the mansion. In the beginning, what seemed like a simple game of the infantile imagination, is now transforming into a macabre obsession. Also stars Norma Lazareno and with Aldo Monti. (In Spanish language).

By 2005, Mexican actress Marga López was an emphysema patient and had acute episodes of bronchitis. Reportedly, she was a chain smoker and did not give up tobacco until 2004. On Tuesday, April 19th, 2005, she suffered a heart attack while undergoing a health check-up test at a hospital in Mexico City. López later died on July 4th, 2005, from cardiac arrhythmia. She was 81.
